Hatha Yoga: This yoga class will help you develop and build on a foundation of yoga postures in the Hatha Yoga tradition, whether or not this is your first yoga class. The Sun Salutation Series will be introduced with progression for all students as needed to improve flowing movement at the beginning of practice. Using the breath as an essential element in the yoga practice, you will move gently through standing and seated poses that will help tone and strengthen the body, improve stamina and mobility, invigorate the body and induce the relaxation response that can help reduce stress.

Yoga For Athletes: This mixed level class is designed to introduce the benefits of hatha yoga to the athlete's body. Runners, Cyclists, Triathletes, Swimmers,....even arm chair athletes.......all are welcome. Don't let the name fool you........this is not a KILLER class........this class is designed to address the most commonly overused and restricted parts of an athlete's body......hamstrings, hip flexors, shoulder rotators, etc. It is a great way to enhance your sport.

Core Conditioning Yoga: This one hour yoga class has a strong focus on use of the muscular locks (Bandhas) in a variety of core stabilizing activities performed throughout the yoga asana practice. All levels are encouraged to attend. Individuals who know the value of a strong core for improved performance in sports, lifestyle and daily activities will benefit from praticipation in this class.

Empowering Yoga: A moderately vigorous combination of Hatha Yoga postures that follow the tradition of Astanga Yoga in emphasizing use of Ujjayi breath, use of the muscular locks and building heat within the body for purification of toxins through vigorous sweat. The most important part of this yoga practice is that each participant is encouraged to listen to their individual body as they move, paying attention to the breath to maintain a safe and effective practice. This practice utilizes the Sun Salutations to prepare the body for practice, a series of standing postures to strengthen and tone the body, followed by postures performed on the floor, emphasizing spinal twisting and core stability activities. Designed for individuals with prior Hatha yoga or exercise experience. Modification are taught to allow all levels of participation.

Astanga Yoga: The Primary Series: Based on therapeutic and progressive sequencing of yoga postures, which are synchronized with a specific breathing technique (ujjayi pranayama), bandhas (internal locks) and dristhi (looking place). The concept of Trishthana refers to the union of these three places of attention or action. Used together, they form a powerful transformative practice which links the body and mind in meditative awareness, producing heat and purification in the body and calm focus in the mind. The primary series called yoga chikitsa (yoga therapy) realigns and detoxifies the physical body, particularly the spine. It also builds a foundation of considerable physical strength, especially important to balance out the overly flexible students who are often drawn to Hatha yoga practice. Designed for individuals with prior Hatha Yoga experience.

"I'm Sore" Silent Yoga Practice with Nydia: This is an opportunity to practice the Astanga system (either primary or second series) with full attention on your breath, bandhas and dristhi. Nydia is practicing along with the class......there is no instruction.......but there are cool "break out" sessions where we will practice hand stands and other challenging and invigorating postures. This class is designed for individuals who are familiar with the primary series or those with hatha yoga experience that are looking for a meditative and vigorous practice.
