Tia Pirkl, RN
Tia was
introduced to yoga as a fitness instructor in 2001
and completed Yoga West School of Hatha Yoga in 2005 at
the 200 hour level. She has a true passion for
expanding her knowledge and understanding in this vast
ancient holistic system. Tia has achieved
Anusara-inspired status and is devoted to continuing her
studies toward Anusara Certification. She regularly
attends Anusara teacher trainings and workshops with
Charly Pivert, Certified Anusara instructor, as well as
John Friend, the founder of Anusara yoga. She has an
excellent understanding of the Universal Principles of
Alignment and the Heart Centered Philosophy that make
this style of yoga so safe, effective and joyful. Tia
has completed Yoga Therapy Training with John Friend,
where her studies focused on diagnostics and treatment
of structural injuries and physical limitations for
various areas of the body, such as neck and shoulders,
lower back and hips, and feet.
Among other trainings,
she has studied with Eddie Modestini, Nicki Doane, David
Swenson, David Williams, and Manju Jois.
Tia would like
her classes to be a mixture of essential effort and
joy. She hopes that people leave her class feeling
their own true divine nature.
Teresa
Guerra
Teresa began practicing yoga as a way to relax, but soon
developed a passion for the unique form of exercise that
brought her many physical benefits as well. Teresa's
passion for yoga inspired her to become certified to
teach beginning yoga, prenatal yoga and children's
yoga. Teresa's beginning classes introduce students
to proper alignment and breathing to help maximize the
benefits of each pose (asana). She welcomes expectant
mothers to her classes and introduces appropriate
modifications to allow them to practice safely. Teresa
has continued her yoga education with teacher trainings
and workshops including studies with Baron Baptiste,
Shakta Kaur Khalsa (Radiant Child Program) and David
Swenson. As a busy mother of four, Teresa knows that our
lives can get in the way of taking care of ourselves.
She recommends yoga as the ideal way to develop and
maintain flexibility, to tone the body and help reduce
the affects of stress. Her goal is to get her students
"hooked" on yoga and on their own path to healing,
strength and balance.
"We make new habits and those habits make us new."
---Baron Baptiste
Susan Ogden
Susan
came to the practice of yoga later than many, but as the
bumper sticker says, she “got here as quick as she
could!” She began to attend yoga classes as a student
in 1999, so that she could still participate in an
exercise program despite several overuse injuries. She
enjoyed those classes so much that she attended Hatha
and Ashtanga trainings and workshops with the goal of
sharing those benefits with others.
Susan
began teaching many years before she came to yoga. As a
graduate student, she was called upon to teach
undergraduate business management, corporate ethics and
marketing classes at a Top 10 School of Business. After
graduation, she worked for IBM in the sales training
division, where she developed training programs for new
salespeople.
After
Susan and husband Dave began their family, she turned to
a more flexible work schedule: fitness instruction. She
is certified by the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA)
and teaches swim lessons to beginners, adults, and
competitive age group swimmers. Susan has been an ACE
certified Group Fitness Instructor since 2001, and
teaches water aerobics, weight training, cycle,
low-impact aerobics, Resist-A-Ball and Hatha Yoga
classes. In her opinion, on of the best things about
teaching yoga is witnessing all the wonderful and varied
ways people learn about themselves and their yoga
practice. Susan adds, “When one can successfully teach
a new skill or a new awareness to another, a brand new
world is opened for them.”
